Abstract
Some physical and chemical characteristics variables are studied on a sandy beach situated at the furthest of El Barquero Estuary. First of all, a brief description of a place is made, emphasizing that in the zone named "Bancos arenosos" the tidal level is always less than 2 m, whereas in Area Longa there is a bigger slope, where some sampling plots are located up to 4 m. About the analysis of the interstitial water a mean value of salinity of 29.05 ppt is found, with an oxygen content of 10.01%. The variation of pH is not significant. The study of the sediment was made considering the granulometry and organic matter content. The obtained results show that in "Bancos arenosos" the sediment is homogeneous, whereas in Area Longa is more heterogeneous. The content of organic matter is about 0.53%.
