Abstract
An experimental study has been carried out in the "pebbles with sessile epifauna" community in the Dover Strait to understand the structuration of sessile epifaunna and to compare the densities of the recruitments with those of the natural community. The periods of settlement of main species have been studied; the evolution of the sessile community during the early months of the experiments is described: the dominance of Cnidarians and Bryozoans, the dominance of colonial organisms during the second year of the experiment. Recruitments of few species and interspecific relations are discussed.
