Abstract
Morphological variability of Turbicellepora avicularis and T. magnicostata is considered: it is possible to conclude that T. magnicostata rarely shows conspicuous ribs on the frontal wall, which is opposite to the original description of the species. So, a redescription of T. magnicostata is based on the knowledge of its morphological variability. The relation (length orifice/width orifice) is considered a good parameter for distinguishing T. avicularis and T. magnicostata; other useful characters are the anatomy of the vicarious avicularia and ovicells. Photographs of the ancestor of T. magnicostata are provided.
