Abstract
In brackish lagoon of Mauguio, on French Mediterranean coast, 8486 Gobius niger were caught with a fixed fishing net. Growth is rapid: one year old fishes, caught in May, measure 64 to 72 mm total length. At that time, they are sexually mature. As early as this age to death, males are longer than females and live more time: they reach a maximum age of four years for 135 mm length, only three years and 122 mm for females. In spite of high reproductive effort, particularly for females, growth is important for 1+ individuals between March-April to September-October, and lower during winter and for older animals. Population sex ratio is not equilibrated (S.R. = 1.39) and this phenomenon accentuates with age. Particularly, mortality is important for two years old females along the breeding season. Previously, no differential mortality has been noted. Number of reproductive acts during a spawning season is very numerous and is estimated as much 8-13 broodcares per males and 12-18 spawns per females.
