Abstract
A population of the hermit crab Cestopagurus timidus from Posidonia oceanica meadow of SE Spain has been studied. The results show a large egg-laying period, with two maximum (in May and August - September respectively) and a recruitment two months after. The lifetime of the species is about 21 months, and during the year, 3-4 cohorts (2 for each year) coexist. This longevity and the slow growth of the specimens justify the small size of the species.
