Abstract
    The descriptive analysis of the development of phases of maturation, fecundation, embryonic, larval life and juvenile of the clam Ruditapes decussata, in Nador's aquaculture center reveals that: - the conditioning of the adult's maturation requires 4 to 5 weeks; - the emission of the polar globule is seen 20-30 minutes after fecundation; - the embryology lasts about 11 to 12 hours (6 hours for the segmentation and 5-6 hours for the gastrulation); - the larval life is 6 to 9 days, representing the passage from the trocophore to the pediveligerous stage. The growthrate is estimated to be 15 ± 7.77 µm.day-¹; - the juvenile benthic stage lasts about 40 days and allows the individual size to increase from 200 µm to about 1.4 mm, at a growth rate of 30 µm.day-¹. The growth average range is about 8 µm during the larval phase and can reach 260 µm in the juvenile phase. The survival rate of the clam's larvae during the larval phase (before metamorphosis and up to the pediveligerous phase, 200 µm), localised between the sixth and ninth day after fecundation, is about 86%. When the larva is metamorphosed and reaches 700 µm (the tenth to the fortieth day), this rate is 9.5%. Finally, it does not exceed 6% during the first phase of its benthic life (the fortieth to the sixty fifth day) when the individual measures 1.4 mm.
