Abstract
A recent species of Mareleptopoma found in the Cape Verde Archipelago was up to now considered to be M. italica Raffi & Taviani, 1985, a fossil from the Europe Pliocene. After the comparison of the material of both species, the conclusion is that enough differences exist to consider them close but different.
