Abstract
This paper briefly summarizes changes in the distribution, abundance, year-class strengths, growth, and mortality of haddock (Melanogrammus aeglefinus) and whiting (Merlangius merlangus) in the northern North Sea during the past fifty years. The results are based partly on research vessel fishing survey data and partly on commercial fishery statistics and catch sampling data.
