Abstract
The wave generator is used in a hydraulic laboratory to generate a controlled wave according to a fixed pattern. These waves are created by a wave generator, which performs a horizontal movement in a tub filled with water. Using the waves, research can be conducted on beaches, dams and other scaled structures.

A piston driven by a servo-valve, pressurized by a hydraulic installation, produces the force to move the water. The servo-valve and the hydraulic installation are controlled by a LabWindows/CVI program and a PID-regulator and directly driven by a data acquisition card.

I was assigned two tasks: design a new program for the wave generator and adjust the old program. The main problem that had to be overcome was the stutter in the emitted signal for the piston movement. The solution was to implement an asynchronous timer.
