Abstract
The centenary of organized fishing research in Scotland stimulated the formulation of this book by past and present members of the Scottish Research Laboratories at Aberdeen and Pitlochry. Twenty-two papers by 28 authoritative authors cover a diversity of aspects of fisheries research. Some papers are historical, some describe results of recent research, while others describe methodology developed at the laboratories. In addition, subjects of interest to the two laboratories are reviewed. Research germane to the problems of the fishing industry in its widest sense is reflected in the choice of papers presented in this outstanding book on fisheries research in Scotland.
