Abstract
Wind fields retrieval over the sea by means of space borne radar remote sensing is an important technique which is aimed at supporting oceanographic and meteorological studies. However, open questions still remain on the best determination of an accurate geophysical model, i.e. on the relationship between the scatterometer measured radar cross section and the wind field. In this paper we describe a two-scale relationship which has been deducted by making use of a measurement radar cross section set of the ERS-I C-band VV -pol scatterometer and collocated ECMWF data analysis over the Mediterranean Sea.
