Abstract
Available information on Venezuela marine molluscs is limited to few sites. In particular, the information related to Falcon State Coast is deficient. An inventory allows a better knowledge on marine invertebrates and to have a reference collection as well. A revision of the specimens gathered in previous years (1979-1984) was made and an additional collection to update the inventory (1988- 1998); besides, it was added information of species of molluscs inhabiting Golfo Triste. In total, 60 localities of the coast are considered . Based on the identification of the existent material, a revision of the taxonomy of the species and the photographic record was made. With the obtained information, it was proceeded to elaborate a database. The species were classified taking into consideration the families. Collected specimens comprised in five classes: Gastropoda, Bivalvia, Cephalopoda, Scaphopoda and Polyplacophora containing 314 species distributed in 189 genus and 93 families. Gastropods and Bivalvia classes comprise more than 95% of the reported taxa. The malacological fauna of Falcon State shows a related distribution directly with the morphology of the coast and the fluvial inf1uence.
