New multifunctional Flemish vessel being constructed: SIRIUS

Added on 2015-01-19
On 19 December 2014, the Flemish Government approved the construction of a new multifunctional vessel for the North Sea. The SIRIUS will eventually replace the ZEEHOND, and will be operated by the Flemish shipping agency FLEET from Ostend on the North Sea. The new vessel will be used for search & rescue, sea fisheries control, installing and maintaining of buoys, hydrographic and hydrological measurements and surveys on the North Sea and Scheldt estuary, specific research assignments, trainings for Flemish maritime education, and other tasks that fit in a future-oriented North Sea and and port policy.
See how the ship will look like on the website of FLEET.
