VLIZ recruits: Science Officer Data Centre - "Local Services & Projects" team

VLIZ is looking for a Science Officer for the Local Services & Projects-team of the Data Centre.

Our offer

  • A contract of one year (prolongation is envisaged) and a salary scale according to qualifications and experience, following the salary scales of the Flemish Government.

Your tasks

  • Collect, quality control and archive different types of data from different scientific disciplines.
  • Digitise and georeference maps.
  • Create data products and small-scale data applications (e.g. RShiny).
  • Assist in providing data services towards the Flemish marine community.
For each function, VLIZ considers enthusiastic involvement, open servitude, excellent professionalism and integrity as important characteristics.

Your profile

  • You have an MSc degree (marine sciences is a plus).
  • You have R Programming skills.
  • You have experience with GIS software.
  • You have experience with relational databases.
  • You have effective oral and written communication skills in English (Dutch is a plus).
