Abstract
This report gives an overview of the presentations and discussions held during the afternoon session of the Paris Theme 7 workshop on 6 December 2007. The morning session of this workshop dealt with issues concerning the Coastal WIKI and the European Action Plans. The outcomes of these Theme 7 discussions were discussed during the plenary sessions of the ENCORA Conference on the 7th of December and are described in another report. The afternoon session was focused on Theme 7’s core business, being marine biological valuation. In a previous Theme 7 workshop (6-8 December 2006, Ghent, Belgium) the concept and protocol for marine biological valuation was shaped and plans were made to apply this protocol to a set of case studies.
During the Paris workshop, the results of these applications and the major lessons learned from these exercises were presented. The main objectives of the workshop were therefore:
    - To discuss the major problems experienced from these test cases and to suggest possible solutions for them
    - To present some end-user perspectives on the use of marine biological valuation maps
    - To discuss the maximization of the use of the concept and protocol for marine biological valuation
