IMIS

Database on the distribution of European decapods according to marine areas, provided to the World Register of Marine Species after the passing of Michael Türkay (through PESI and Geoff Boxshall). Distribution data for Decapoda in the European Atlantic and the entire Mediterranean. The regions are according to the International Bureau of Hydrography (IBH) in Paris, that were published a while ago. Subdivisions were made where the IBH-area seemed too large. These IBH areas are also used internationally as the limits for maritime charts. The borders are thus exactly defined by latitude-longitude.
