Abstract
    This contribution tackles a topic that is currently focusing major interest worldwide: gas and gas hydrates occurrence in marine sediments. The discussion concentrates on the specific case of thegas and hydrate accumulations in the Black Sea, and outlines their main characteristics, as resulted from investigation through a Marie Curie supported project. Different aspects of the implementation of the project in this framework will be also discussed.
