Abstract
Low concentrations of Zn2+ and Pb2+ (up to 50 ppb) produce significant delay in the development of the estuarine mudcrab Rhithropanopeus harrisii Gould. It is clear that the effect of lead dominates the effect of zinc with regard to the toxicity of a mixture of the two metals. Some combinations of the two metals, however, neutralize the toxic effect of lead and even accelerates the larval growth.
