Systematic Review-protocol "Floodplain management in temperate regions: is multifunctionality enhancing biodiversity?" published
BiodiversityKnowledge, SPIRAL and EBONE at IPBES-1
The first meeting of the Platform's plenary (IPBES-1) took place in Bonn Germany from 21 to 26 January 2013.
BiodiversityKnowledge in cooperation with other projects; SPIRAL, EBONE and EUBON organized a "European" side event on Regional support approaches to IPBES. This side event aimed to outline the importance of regional interactions to support and facilitate input into the work programme activities of IPBES.
Agenda of the side event:
13:00-13:10 Networking monitoring, data and knowledge: the European link to GEOBON (Rob Jongman, EBONE, Christoph Häuser, EUBON)
13:10-13:20 Challenges of multi-level science-policy interactions (Juliette Young, Sybille van den Hove and Allan Watt, SPIRAL)
13:20-13:30 BiodiversityKnowledge – an approach to network knowledge on biodiversity across Europe to support decision making (Carsten Neßhöver & Marie Vandewalle, BiodiversityKnowledge)
13:30-14:00 Discussion
For further information, please see the full report of the side event, as well as the compilation of the three presentations.
BiodiversityKnowledge Internal Evaluation
The overall objective of the evaluation is to analyse the issues involved in establishing the prototype network of knowledge, how difficulties were overcome or why they remain. It is doing so by evaluating the process and outputs from the prototype network of knowledge from the perspectives of all actors involved i.e. the clients, knowledge providers and others involved in the pathway of knowledge.
Approach: Importantly the results from the evaluation are not only being used to improve the prototype network of knowledge during the lifetime of the project but also to inform the final recommendations of the project for an established network of knowledge. The evaluation team are evaluating the process and outputs of the project from the points of view of the clients, knowledge providers and (other) project participants through fully confidential interviews, focus groups and questionnaires.
The evaluation has been divided into 3 distinct phases:
- Phase 1: Assessing the process of developing the prototype network of knowledge
- Phase 2: Testing the application of the prototype network of knowledge to synthesis knowledge using three case studies
- Phase 3: Assessing the outputs and outcomes from the prototype network of knowledge
Read Phase 1 findings in more detail:
- Summary of initial evaluation findings for the process of developing the NoK Ideas for future BiodiversityKnowledge workshops and conferences
- Summary of initial evaluation findings for the process of developing the NoK Challenges and ideas for the BiodiversityKnowledge project
- Summary of initial evaluation findings for the process of developing the NoK Moving from BiodiversityKnowledge to a European Network of Knowledge
