Fish stocks within Safe Biological Limits

  • Definition : The percentage of formally assessed commercial fish stocks that is harvested within Safe Biological Limits, in ICES fishing area IVC (North Sea), in any given year.
  • Calculation : The number of fish stocks in the North Sea (ICES fishing area IVC), that are formally assessed and evaluated as within "Safe Biological Limits" (Fishing mortality is lower than limit value and spawning stock biomass is greater than limit value) , divided by the total number of formally assessed stocks in the North Sea fishing ICES area IVC.
