Amount of oil pollution

Definition : Number of observed oil slicks from aerial surveillance and percentage of oiled guillemots amongst those found dead or dying on beaches.
Description : The annual number of observed oil slicks from aerial surveillance in the southern North Sea as monitored under the provisions of the Bonn Agreement monitoring and surveillance program. The proportion of oiled guillemots found on the number of dead guillemots collected during winter surveys on monitored beaches, has been selected as an Ecological Quality Objective by OSPAR.
