Dr. Losada is Full Professor in Hydraulics at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Cantabria where he is a member of Ocean and Coastal Research Group. His scientific activity is mainly related to coastal oceanography, numerical modelling of coastal processes; numerical and experimental analysis of wave and structure interaction; coastal structures design; coastal flooding; coastal hazards and recently analysis of the impacts of climate change on the coastal area. He has authored and co-authored over 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. He has been Principal Investigator in many national projects and task leader in several EU projects. He is currently a member of the Coastal Engineering, ELSEVIER Advisory Board; Associate Editor for Journal of Hydraulic Research. In 1999 he was recipient of the National Environmental Award, from the Ministry of the Environment for the Spanish National Flooding Atlas.
