The International Conference in Venice, organized by Unesco and dealing with Climate Change, has been canceled. The reason for this was strong political pressure applied to the organizers by the Italian government. As a result, Venice lost an invaluable opportunity to initiate discussions between international experts and policy makers on the future of Venice.
We would like to express our grave concerns over the growing political influence over science. Global change is not a political movement, but a scientific reality.
