Beach nourishment is the supply of sand to the shore to increase the recreational value and/or to secure the beach against shore erosion by feeding sand on the beach.
Besides beach nourishment, two other types of shore nourishment are also applied: backshore nourishment and shoreface nourishment. The background of shore nourishment and the different types of nourishment are also described in Shore nourishment.
