Abstract
Bivalves on the beach are usually found as empty shells. Some species of bivalves (Lutraria lutraria, L. angustior, Solen marginatus, Ensis directus) are being washed ashore as living animals more often during winter 2004-2005 at the western part of the Belgian coast.
