Biology Type of larval development: direct (non-planktotrophic) inferred from paucispiral protoconch.  [details]

Diagnosis Shell fusiform, hyaline, up to 15 mm high. Protoconch small, smooth, high turriculate of little less than two whorls. Teleoconch of about 5 strongly shouldered whorls bearing at every growth stage (about 5 per whorl), a foliated lamella folded up into a long, hollow tube which is bent upwards; otherwise smooth. Outer lip simple, with a peripheral projection terminating the keel. Siphonal canal long and delicate, widely open. Outer lip thin, interrupted by the last formed tubular projection. Columella thin, appressed. Siphonal canal quite long, straight, broadly open and slightly twisted terminally; flanked with remnants of previous instances of the canal on larger specimens. Colour white, the apical part tending to a very pale reddish orange or flesh hue on fresh specimens. [details]
