Long term trends in the macrobenthos of the Belgian Continental Shelf

To explore the effects of natural and anthropogenic impacts, macrobenthos is used. Also because of their direct link with the sediment and the processes just above it. The goal of this project is to contribute to the knowledge of the long-term variability in the biodiversity of the macrobenthos and its relationship to human activities. |

European sustainability indicators for coastal areas in the Netherlands
An initial inventory of the European sustainability indicators has been drawn up by VLIZ for the Dutch coastal zone. This survey was conducted by the Department of Rijkswaterstaat/Rijksinstituut voor Kust en Zee (RWS/RIKZ), commissioned by DG Water (VLIZ responsibility). |

Marine Regions, towards a standard for georeferenced marine names
[MRG]
Through the website MarineRegions.org it is now a piece of cake to locate easily for the whole world the Exclusive Economic zones (EEZs) and many marine places.
The "Marine Regions" system combines the data and information from both the VLIMAR gazetteer (place names) as MARBOUND (polygons for sea areas). Both global data systems have been developed by the Flanders Marine Institute, and have proven their value for many users. By combining both systems, the users will be better served. |
