Modifying criteria for marine biological valuation

Modifying criteria are valuation criteria which are used to upgrade the value of subzones within a study area when these subzones score high with respect to these criteria. The use of first-order and modifying criteria is illustrated in the figure below (giving an overview of the concept of marine biological valuation).[1]
