Description
Data comprehend environmental data and seagrass descriptors analyzed along with environmental and seagrass associated microbial communities by 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing. Raw sequencing of the microbial communities can be found on GenBank under the Bio project accession number PRJNA826444. more
Sampling was conducted at two different sites on the northern coast of Crete (Greece) in August and October 2019. Dataset contains measurements on nutrients into the water column and pore water: seawater and pore water were collected by acid-washed syringes and analyzed for phosphate, according to Strickland and Parsons (1972; detection limit 0.05-4 µM), and Ivancic & Degobbis (1984; detection limit 0.1-10 µM) for ammonium (NH4+). For sediment granulometry: sediment was collected by 5 cm depth mini cores and dried at 60 °C for 72 hours. 20 g of dried sediment samples were used to analyze the granulometry by shaking samples for 10 minutes with sieves of 1000, 250, 125, and 63 µm meshes. For sediment elemental and isotopic content: collected by 5 cm depth mini cores and processed according to Vizzini and Mazzola (2004). For the seagrass descriptors: seagrass were collected by using aluminium corers (internal diameter 15 cm) and for seagrass density: shoots were counted in each core in five replicates and normalized per squared meter. Morphometry, pigments content, and total phenol: processed according to Conte et al., 2021, Aquatic Botany. Seagrass elemental and isotopic content: processed according to Vizzini and Mazzola (2004).
