Abstract:
Activities include studies on: population dynamics of the most important commercial Baltic fish and their implications for rational stock management, biological studies of fish stocks in deep sea fishing grounds, determination of southern Baltic bottom topography using acoustic methods, impact of pesticides on acetylcholinesterase activity in Anisakis simplex larvae, distribution of water birds on the Polish Baltic coast and mortality caused by coastal fishery, analyses-based choice of netting material with meshes turned 90° in codends in order to achieve optimal selectivity properties in cod catches on the Baltic, evaluation of changes in fish assemblages in Polish marine lagoons resulting from fisheries exploitation and species succession, trophic interactions between the ichthyoplankton and zooplankton of the southern Baltic - studying recruitment mechanisms, variability in zoobenthos assemblages productivity as a potential factor impacting demersal fish resources, ecology of early life stages of sprat in the southern Baltic based on the analysis of otolith microincrements, flounder (Platichthys flesus) as a bioindicator of methylmercury contamination in the marine environment, studies of the properties of chitosan salts and dicarboxylic acids, pilot project for the implementation of the food safety management system according to the ISO 22000 standard, economic analysis of the performance and results of Polish fisheries in 2005, socio-economic impact of the realization of the Common Fisheries Policy.
