Abstract
Hypodermic extraction of gonadal materials was performed on Tridacna squamosa and T. maxima populations at Rengis Island (South East of Malaysia), at approximately monthly intervals between March 1996 and April 1997. A spawning season extending over several months was indicated for both species. The reproductive cycles of these 2 species are compared and discussed. The influence of temperature and salinity on reproduction could not be detected.
