As the Arctic sea ice begins to retreat this summer, fleets of ships and drilling platforms are poised to enter the newly open waters. Each year, more of the region is accessible for longer. The seas freeze in the autumn several weeks later now than they did three decades ago. The Arctic ice pack is on the verge of becomingseasonal. |
