Abstract
On the 25th anniversary of IAMSLIC, the authors consider some of the technological changes that have affected libraries over the past quarter century. In particular, they discuss the WAVES/VAGUES database. About 18 years ago, using as a base a KWOC index of one library's holdings, WAVES/VAGUES was begun, and has evolved into a union catalogue of the Council of Fisheries and Ocean Libraries (COFOL). Over the years, bibliographic standards were developed, the database was refined and made available in various formats. Earlier this year, it made its appearance on the World Wide Web.
