Abstract
The species Melita pellucida Sars, 1882, shows a number of characters, necessitating the creation of a new genus, Allomelita . At Etreta, the species lives as a stygobiont, in the interstitial of a thick layer of gravel in the intertidal zone between HWN and LWN marks. At this place, a strong resurgence of fresh water discharges, causing large fluctuations in the salinity of the habitat, from almost fresh during ebb to fully marine during flood. The species lives exclusively in the deeper layers of the substrate, where extreme fluctuations may be leveled off.
