Abstract
The World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure - better known by its original acronym Pianc - celebrates its 125th anniversary in 2010, making it one of the world's oldest technical associations. It provides guidance for sustainable waterborne transport infrastructure for ports and waterways worldwide. This paper provides a brief overview of Pianc's history and accomplishments over the past one and a quarter centuries together with a review of its current roles and activities.
