Membership

Are you passionate about the sea and are you willing to support marine research? That is possible through 'The Sea as a Good Cause', the philanthropy work of VLIZ, the only good cause in Flanders that focuses on marine scientific knowledge. The VLIZ-membership offers some amusing advantages (see enumeration down below). By becoming a VLIZ-member, you especially contribute to the realization of the VLIZ philanthropy projects. The annual membership fees are invested in projects that benefit the seas and ocean, so that you are still able to enjoy the sea.

A VLIZ-membership is not only for private individuals, also students, researchers or professors linked to a university or research institution can become a member of VLIZ to be better informed of the different activities and results within Flemish and Belgian marine sciences. As a supporting member, representatives of the business sector or government institutions can utilize VLIZ’s key position as well as the network of relations VLIZ has developed to promote collaboration with marine and maritime researchers. Teachers, guides and nature associations can also become a member to enjoy high-quality and customized literature and activities. A VLIZ-membership is for everyone with a healthy interest in everything the seas and ocean offer us. Sympathizing members receive a membership card.

As a supporting member, representatives of the business sector or government institutions can utilise VLIZ’s key position as well as the network of relations VLIZ has developed to promote collaboration with marine and maritime researchers. If you live on the coast or if you are interested in anything related to the seas and oceans, we will gladly ensure efficient transfer of knowledge by means of our contacts with the Flemish and international research community.

The membership fees are:

• EUR 10 for students
• EUR 30 for individual members
• EUR 40 for a family membership
• EUR 100 for institutional members
