Ratio of number of overnight stays to number of residents

  • Definition : The ratio of 'overnight stays' (total number of nights spent) in tourist accommodation in a given area (municipality , district, sub-region, tourist zone), for a given period (month, season, high versus low season,..) to the number of residents (total number of year-round inhabitants) in that area, in a given year.
  • Calculation : Number of 'overnight stays' in tourist accommodation divided by total resident population
