Abstract
The role of the Loop Current on the fronts of the Gulf of Mexico is studied using the results of the Monreal-Gómez and Salas de Léon (1985) Gulf of Mexico numerical model. The horizontal thermal structure can be depicted with the pycnoclinr anomaly. Assuming that biological processess take place in the frontal areas, the thermal boundaries at the cyclonic and anticyclonic eddies, as well as the Loop Current have an effect on the chlorophyll-a concentration in the Gulf of Mexico.
