Fish are animals that have high levels of parasitic fauna, which is a critical point of control due to the risks that they can cause in the animal health or in the consuming population. The southern coast of Espírito Santo State is a region dedicated to artisanal fishing and because there are no official data about this subject, the identification and survey of fish parasites in this region is extremely relevant. Thus, the objective of this study was to identify the parasites that occurring in fishmongers, ports and industries of the region. Weekly visits were made to the establishments to collect the parasites, registered in an own form (host fish species, parasite type, anatomical site, fish origin). The collected parasites were placed in plastic bottles, covered with 70º INPM ethyl alcohol fixative solution). Consequently, they were referred to the microscopy laboratory for morphological identification, with the aid of a stereoscopic magnifying glass to observe anatomical details such as head, tail, dorsal and ventral view. Twenty-one ectoparasite samples were collected, all crustacean, being three samples identified as specimens belonging to the Copepoda Class and 18 samples from the Malacostraca Class, Order Isopoda. Were observed a preference of isopods for the parasitism in the gills and mouth, and copepods for the integument, due to the benefit of blood supply and accumulation of debris that serve as food. Five different species of ectoparasites were found in 21 different host specimens, most of them isopods of the genera Eurydice, Nerocila and Rocinela; and copepods of the species Lernaeenicus longiventris and Pennella sagitta. The identified isopod specimens (Eurydice sp., Nerocila armata, Nerocila fluviatilis and Rocinela signata) refer to new registers in 15 fish species of commercial importance in the region. Scientific works are needed to identify the marine fish parasites, with data and information that facilitate the identification of specimens and elucidate the parasite-host relationship, specifically in the coast of Espírito Santo.
