AB  - Based upon new collections from the type locality and an interpretation of the original description, <i>Polydora cornuta</i> Bosc, 1802, is redescribed. The species is interpreted to be the same as <i>Polydora ligni</i> Webster, 1879, a well-known estuarine species. A neotype has been selected from the new collections and an illustrated description of <i>P. cornuta</i> prepared. <i>Polydora ligni</i> becomes a junior synonym of <i>P. cornuta</i>.
