AB  - No abstract. Begins: (translated from German) The main body of the material examined is kept in the Öresund Collection of the Zoological Institute in Lund. Apart from a few older finds, it was collected between 1916 and 1948 and, unless otherwise indicated, by the then lecturers in Lund, Gustav Thulin (1916–1932) and Hans Brattstköm (1933–1948). Some polychaetes from the port of Malmö were provided by the director of the Malmö Museum, Dr. P. M. Lovén. Thulin's material consists primarily of the quantitative samples he retrieved in 1916 using Petersen's soil grab. This material is very substantial in terms of both species and number of individuals and is largely attributed to Thulin himself. In general, I simply copied the tables left behind by Thulin. Only in cases where Thulin informed me, either verbally or in his notes, that some worms had not been definitively identified, did I examine these samples. Some of these doubtful polychaetes are unfortunately no longer to be found. In some cases, however, Thulin left behind notes and figures according to which the missing worms can at least be identified to genus. Through Thulin's assessments and Professor H. Wallengren's research in the years 1909–1916 (Eliason 1920), the polychaete fauna of soft soils has been investigated quite thoroughly, while the hard soil fauna has been treated more superficially. Brattstköm has therefore devoted particular attention to hard soils in his investigations. Most of the species he found that were new to the area are also hard-bottom forms and therefore should not be interpreted as a sign of a change in the fauna.

The collection of the material was mainly carried out in connection with marine biology courses. As a result, the sparse, shallow zone along the coast, as well as the entire southern part of the Øresund, has still only been superficially investigated. Some species in the collection were not found in the Øresund proper, but just off its northern boundary. The reports of these finds are in parentheses. The same is true for some species reported by Ørsted and Tauber, where the information is probably based on incorrect identification. Before the list of finds for each species, a list of previous works in which the occurrence of the species in question in the Øresund has been discussed has been compiled.
