A number of polychaetous annelids new to science were encountered in the course of a biological survey of parts of the northern coast of the Gulf of Mexico in Florida. Of these, the first two to be reported upon are described below.<br> In addition to the species descriptions, discussions of the known genera of the Pilargidae and of those species of the capitellid genus Scyphoproctus that have been described previously are included, as well as keys to the pilargid genera and the species of Scyphoproctus.
