Biology Type of larval development: planktotrophic, inferred from multispiral protoconch. [details]
Diagnosis Shell up to 5 mm high. Protoconch with little more than three whorls and blunt apex, with subsutural and suprasutural threads. Teloconch with 6-7 whorls, with about 12 thick axial folds per whorl, slightly narrower than the interspaces and not projecting very much over the suture. Surface with flat spiral cords, ca. 8-9 on penultimate whorl, separated by narrower interspaces bearing minute pores; a well developed spiral cord running from just below the termination of the suture and around the base of last whorl. Aperture oval with varicose outer lip. Colour of protoconch brown, of teleoconch white. [details]
Distribution Eastern Atlantic, in Madeira, on Gorringe, Josephine and Seine seamounts, rare in 205-670 m; Western Mediterranean, extremely rare in 90-450 m; Western Atlantic from southern Florida to northern Cuba. [details]
