Taxonomy There is considerable confusion in the taxonomy of this species group and the treatment here follows Bogi & Giusti (1994). The similar species E. multistriata Jeffreys, 1882 (= guernei Dautzenberg & Fischer, 1896) has a similar sculpture but grows larger (up to 20 mm), with a broader contour and a higher profile. Emarginula tuberculosa Libassi, 1859, which also lives in the same environment, is distinguished by the distinctly coiled apex overhangin the posterior margin.  [details]
