Synonymy Bowden & Heppell (1968) demonstrated that the well-known name Venerupis pullastra (Montagu, 1803) should be replaced with the older V. senegalensis (Gmelin, 1791). According to Fischer-Piette & Metivier (1971) the correct name is V. corrugata (Gmelin, 1791). On the basis of 'first reviser' principle, the name V. senegalensis is used. [details]
