ECA Robotics Belgium SRL

ECA Robotics, a division of ECA Group, is one of the world leaders in robotics and automated systems for defense and the civil sector. ECA Robotics Belgium was founded in response to the call from the Belgian and Dutch navy to tender for the supply of new mining vessels. This project was won in 2018 by Naval Group and ECA Group. The two French companies, both highly experienced in their field, have joined forces in a consortium called “Belgium Naval and Robotics” to provide the Belgian and Dutch navy with efficient, innovative and customized solutions that meet their standoff demining requirements. Naval Group will build the mothership and ECA Robotics will focus on the development of associated underwater drones. Within the Research and Development Center in Mouscron, we focus on the development of the various components of the Mine Countermeaters Program. A new production site is being set up in Ostend for the assembly of these different components: The factory in Ostend will focus on the one hand on the transformation of the USV (unmanned vehicle) so that it can move autonomously in the water (remote control) and on the other hand produce the drones that will detect, identify and destroy the mines remotely (stand-off principle).

The Flanders Marine Institute is the coordination and information platform for marine and coastal research in Flanders. It also promotes and supports the international image of Flemish marine scientific research and international marine education as a partner in various projects and networks.
