Marine biodiversity in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea
Dear Participants,We have the pleasure to announce the opening of the third MARBENA e-Conference, entitled: "Marine Biodiversity in the Mediterranean and Black Sea - the known, unknown, unknowable and the value", which will run from 7 to 20 April. This e-Conference will run in parallel with the already running Bioplatform e-Conference. The two e-Conferences will run separately, during the first week (7-13 April), and jointly during the second week (14-20 April). The Bioplatfrom e-Conference is entitled: "Biological Resources in a changing world; Science for a better Governance”. The first theme, during the joint running of the Conferences is defined by the MARBENA e-Conference while the remaining ones are defined by Bioplatform. Concerning the themes and issues for discussion we have kept the same scheme with the previous MARBENA e-Conferences, that is to introduce each day a new issue for discussion. Discussions on all issues may extend until the last day of the Conference. The format of messages, rather simple, should consist of: a) a short title; b) name of author; c) text with Literature References, where appropriate. Three different issues will be introduced under the theme “the known” while for the remaining three themes, a single issue will be introduced. Research scientists with recognized research activities on the topic will chair these issues. The results of the conferences will be presented at the European Platform for Biodiversity Research Strategy (EPBRS) meeting under the Greek EU Presidency, which will be held in Molyvos (Lesbos), Greece - 23 to 26 May 2003.
We wish you all a productive e-Conference.Dr. Christos Arvanitidis
