1. Design

Flowcharts are constructed using up to date information and knowledge of the system, expert discussions, debates and workshops and brainstorm sessions. Eventually the stocks, flows and interconnections are presented in a clear visual chart in order to make it accessible for participation and articulation. The Stella software of the HPS Systems Thinking Company is used as a crucial tool for the translation of the selected aspects into mental models and simulation environments.

2. Modelling.

Starting from this mental model, the step towards modelling is made in order to achieve a first attempt for a decision support system for both fisheries as well as sand and gravel extraction as marine policy sectors. This step will mainly be dealt with by the MUMM.
