I must confess that living in Whitstable I somewhat take the harbour for granted. The photo was taken at a time, and on a day, where it was stripped of crowds of visitors and was a working harbour once more. Where else can you live which has so much colour? My three pictures are meant to show the connection between Looe's tourism and fishing industry. The character and beauty of the town is dominated by the fishing boats and the quay where you frequently see the fishermen land their catch. They supply many of the numerous resteraunts and takeaways with very fresh, locally sourced,produce which is enjoyed by the visiting tourists (and the locals) who also enjoy a lovely beach and bustling streets which echo the fishing history of one of the few remaining

These pictures were taken during this years snowy weather. I just think they go to show that apart from all the other difficulties in the fishing industry at the moment, the romantic notion that fishing is usually done in fine sunny weather, with calm seas, this is not the case. Sometimes it is a long hard slog in freezing conditions just to bring home the catch, which these days is not always there to be caught.

This photo is very evocative of the great sense of space you get in Whitstable. It has beauty even on a cloudy day. It is also a good reminder of the variety of interests the town serves nowadays when fishing has become just one of a number of economic drivers contributing to the town's success.
