Main aims of A2 activity :

Currently, each institution and country is developing and maintaining databases relevant to coastal water quality. Most of them rely on in-situ measurements only. Earth Observation satellite data (MODIS and MERIS) are available and offer a larger scale tool for understanding environmental changes that impact on coastal waters quality. This activity, therefore, aims to link existing in-situ and satellite databases for the Interreg ‘2Seas’ territorial area.

Targeted Publics :

  • Stakeholders engaged in research and development who would benefit from European Space Agency programmes and/or from the Global Monitoring for Environment and Security provided data or services.
  • Actors coming from institutions/agencies specialised into water quality control and from the society as well who are concerned by inventorying and sharing coastal waters quality data.
  • Actors coming from Public Environmental Institutions concerned by sharing protocols and stating of the metrology art in the field of coastal water quality measurement.

Expected results :

  • An inventory of all the existing databases existing over the 2Seas area.
  • Combination of existing and new in-situ measurements and existing and new EO products.
  • Sharing of existing information by harmonizing the data and the metrology protocols.
  • Improvement and validation at a regional scale of Earth Observation (EO) products.
